Well, our guy is one year old. Can you believe it?!? We decided not to have a big party because we're so far away from family, but several Elmo balloons, Elmo Hats, Elmo noisemakers, 2 cakes, and a "Happy Birthday" banner later... oh well. See below for pictures of the party we didn't have. :)

Oscar is doing great, as always. Every day we love him a little bit more, and find he's just a bit more amazing than the day before. He is still very much in love with his Snuggle Puppy and his right thumb. He enjoys physical comedy-- pratfalls, running into doorways, water squirted in the eye-- all of these things send him into hysterical laughter. Currently, he is really into strutting his stuff behind push toys. He crinkles his nose and throws his head back while he's doing it, sometimes with his eyes closed; he is so proud of himself.

He is also saying "Dada," "Mama" and "Kitty (Diddy)." He says all three, but it's pretty much all "Dada" all the time (Gabe's head just keeps growing and growing...). He likes giving high fives, clapping, as well as doing laps in his crib in lieu of taking a nap (he tries to stay in shape). Another favorite trick is giving us kisses... he gives a little smirk, leans in, and plants a nice, open-mouthed wet one on with his tongue. Sometimes, this is followed by a cackle and a bonus lick. We'll try to sort this out before he starts dating.
Sappy people that we are, we couldn't resist "taking a little walk down memory lane" and posting an as yet unblogged picture for each month below. It's our only child's first birthday, so you will have to bear with us.

Happy Birthday, Oscar.
