Rory is Five Months Old
Rory is five months old today! Her current interests include: log-rolling across the floor in the direction of sharp corners/objects; eating; blowing raspberries; volunteering as a "bump" for O to drive his cars over; cooing; and (mostly) sleeping through the night (woo hoo!).

Halloween Parade
Today Rory and I went to O's school to watch their Halloween parade. Oscar was the first person in line (I like to think this is because he was deemed the cutest child in school today). Actually, let's just call him the Grand Marshall. Anyway, things quickly devolved into a hot cat-herding mess. This seemed to make the teachers uneasy, but we spectators found it very entertaining. :)

Happy Birthday, Oscar!
Oscar had his third birthday on the 18th. He celebrated with a good morning birthday muffin and cupcakes for his preschool classmates. Our little guy is growing up fast. As we've mentioned in previous posts, Oscar has joined academia, and he is proving to be a wonderful, caring big brother to Rory. His current obsession is diggers, though he also has a profound appreciation for steamrollers, cement mixers, bulldozers, cherry pickers, cranes, flatbed trucks, dump trucks, trains, school buses, garbage trucks, airplanes, purple airplanes, helicopters, big white vans, bicycles and motorcycles.
Happy, happy birthday, Oscar. We love you.

First Day of School
Sigh. I just dropped my baby boy off for his first day of preschool. During a thunderstorm. Oscar is scared of thunder. Oh dear.
Here are some pictures of Oscar getting geared up for the big day. He was really excited about his new green "pack-pack." Here he is asking to go to preschool before bed last night:

And here he is this morning, all eager and ready to learn:
The last thing I heard after I walked out the classroom door was, "Go see mommy?" Um, it's normal (for me) to cry in the car on the way home, right?

Rehoboth Beach
Gabe had work in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, so the kids and I joined him and called it a mini-vacation. Oscar was a bit wary of the actual ocean; he found the waves too noisy. While we were watching them from the boardwalk, he turned to me and said, "I am NOT RELAXED!" Alrighty then.
We did, however, have lots of fun at a little tide pool. We built sand castles, did some bulldozing, and even got wet!

Then, when we got back to the hotel, this happened:

Very. Good. Day.

A Wet Fourth of July
O-man didn't let a little rain stop him from having fun on the Fourth! In an unsuccessful attempt to impress O, Gabe set off a few small fireworks when the weather cleared. Oscar was not a fan. He pretty much freaked out, and has been saying, "The fireworks are all gone." under his breath whenever he hears a loud noise since. There's always next year, kiddo!
