Look Who's Two!

Actually, Oscar turned two on September 18th, how is it October already? We were really glad to have family close enough to help us celebrate this year- Mom, Dad and Heather all came for a visit the weekend following O's birthday. He worked Heather and my Dad both over pretty quickly. Eh, who can blame them?

Oscar is just Oscar. He's such a funny kid. :) We're enjoying the fall weather with him, and looking forward to the holidays in the new place. We had his two year ped. appointment today, and he is still a little crusher (90th percentile for height and 75th for weight). Currently, his favorite birthday toy is a dustbuster that my folks gave him. He is always using it, and somehow he knows that it's for tight spaces like under tables and the fridge (Yeah, I'm sure he has never seen me vacuum those areas). He is some sort of dustbusting genius!

He's still a bookworm. Reading is pretty much his favorite thing to do, except for maybe wrestling with Gabe when he gets home from work. We found our local library soon after relocating, and we try to go visit once a week or so. It's fun because Oscar is old enough to pick out his own books now. He just starts chucking piles of books into the stroller, like "this is awesome! I can take all these books home?" The library really is awesome, though.

Oscar's second year has involved some pretty major changes. He wasn't walking or talking yet this time last year! The cross-continent move really tested his flexibility. Leaving everything familiar in Alaska, and then spending two months in temporary housing without his toys or even his own bed was challenging. Oscar is taking everything in stride though, and it is so much fun to see this confident, happy little guy exploring his new home.

Happy Birthday, O. We love, love, love you.

Oscar,
We wanted to send you a birthday present, but we don't know where you live! Will you be at the Navy game next week?
