Baby Girl!

Oscar's little sister, Rory Maria, joined us on the outside two-and-a-half weeks early! Rory was born via super speedy delivery on May 30th at 5:33 pm EST. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 19 inches long. I think we have another keeper!

Cheers, sunglasses!

Every now and then O likes to take a break from bulldozin' to shout, "Cheers, sunglasses!" and clink eyes with you, if you're wearing shades too. What a weirdo.

Fun Morning

Here are some pics from this morning, spent doing two of Oscar's favorite things: riding his "big-boy-elmo-bicycle," and "scooping dirt!"

Also, the bottom picture shows O playing one of my favorite games. I yell out a plant name (Rose of Sharon! Forsythia! Peony!), and he runs to it. O thinks it's super fun, and it allows me to tire him out while remaining in my chair. Everybody wins! :)

Putting Me in My Place

Ouch, Oscar. Very ouch.

Baneema Phone

Video is Fun.

Oscar's temperament doesn't really lend itself to still photography these days, so here's some video. In this clip, I give him bonus points for speed and understanding the value of a big finish, if not for enunciation!

This is Normal, Right?

Yeah, we thought so, too.

Catching Up

We've had an exciting few weeks. Here's what's been going on:

Oscar bid adieu to his beloved crib, and upgraded seamlessly to his Big Boy Bed.

Santa Claus came! To our house! On a firetruck!

Also, we've been taking advantage of our first mild Pennsylvania winter. It's been really nice to get outside so much.

Oh, and we did this too:

Good times.

Number Two

So, you may have noticed that we've been posting pretty infrequently in the last few months. We have been a little preoccupied. Plus, we didn't want to let the cat out of the bag too early. Yes, the professionals tell us Oscar will have a new brother or sister in June. Megan is 12 weeks along, and she's slowly emerging from the first trimester fog. We are all very excited, except for Oscar, who is in denial. We think he'll come around, though. And thanks to the wonders of modern medical technology, it looks like we've got another thumb sucker on our hands!

Look Who's Two!

Actually, Oscar turned two on September 18th, how is it October already? We were really glad to have family close enough to help us celebrate this year- Mom, Dad and Heather all came for a visit the weekend following O's birthday. He worked Heather and my Dad both over pretty quickly. Eh, who can blame them?

Oscar is just Oscar. He's such a funny kid. :) We're enjoying the fall weather with him, and looking forward to the holidays in the new place. We had his two year ped. appointment today, and he is still a little crusher (90th percentile for height and 75th for weight). Currently, his favorite birthday toy is a dustbuster that my folks gave him. He is always using it, and somehow he knows that it's for tight spaces like under tables and the fridge (Yeah, I'm sure he has never seen me vacuum those areas). He is some sort of dustbusting genius!

He's still a bookworm. Reading is pretty much his favorite thing to do, except for maybe wrestling with Gabe when he gets home from work. We found our local library soon after relocating, and we try to go visit once a week or so. It's fun because Oscar is old enough to pick out his own books now. He just starts chucking piles of books into the stroller, like "this is awesome! I can take all these books home?" The library really is awesome, though.

Oscar's second year has involved some pretty major changes. He wasn't walking or talking yet this time last year! The cross-continent move really tested his flexibility. Leaving everything familiar in Alaska, and then spending two months in temporary housing without his toys or even his own bed was challenging. Oscar is taking everything in stride though, and it is so much fun to see this confident, happy little guy exploring his new home.

Happy Birthday, O. We love, love, love you.

Cooler Weather

Well, we never thought it would happen, but we were actually ready for a break from the heat. Here's O playing on the front porch, all bundled up, and sporting one of his favorite things, a "HHHAT-a!"

Oscar's Lito and Lita Visit!

Gabe's folks came for a visit last week. We had a really great time- Below are pictures of Oscar helping his Lito inspect the lawnmower and making tortillas with Lita. He's all business, this one!
